Handling and protection of personal information

Singularity High School (hereinafter referred to as “Our School”) will act in compliance with laws and regulations and other standards regarding the protection of personal information of our students, their guardians, and other related parties, to be used for educational activities. We will establish our rules and systems with consideration for international trends and ensure to establish, implement, and maintain the following policy to protect personal information. In order to implement this declaration, Our School will thoroughly ensure that faculty and other related parties are fully informed of and work to implement, improve, and maintain this policy.

How Our School manages personal information

In order to prevent the loss, destruction, falsification, and leakage of personal information, Our School will implement information security measures and conduct regular security reviews. Additionally, Our School will appoint a person responsible for the handling of personal information to ensure appropriate management.

Purpose of obtaining and utilizing personal information

Our school will obtain personal information in an appropriate and fair manner while assuring personal information will not be obtained in any unauthorized manner. When obtaining personal information, we will clearly state the purpose of use and obtain written consent from the individual and the individual’s guardian(s). The purpose of use shall be limited to the scope necessary for educational activities, and consent shall be acquired again if the purpose of use exceeds that scope.

Rights of the “Information Subject”

Our school confirms that the “Information Subject” (the individual whose personal information handled and the individual’s guardian(s)) has the right to disclose, correct, halt the use of, and delete personal information, and will respond promptly to these requests to the extent that it does not interfere with educational activities. Specific procedures are detailed in the “Singularity High School Personal Information Protection Regulations.” where the time and method for response are clearly indicated.

Provisions to third parties

As a general principle, Our School will not disclose personal information to third parties. In the event that Our School needs to provide personal information to a third party, we will obtain prior consent of the individual and the individual’s guardian(s), and we will do so only when required by law or when legally requested by a government entity. In such cases, we will confirm that the third party receiving the information has an appropriate management system and sign any necessary contracts to ensure its security.

Joint use and entrustment

When Our School jointly uses personal information with a third party or consigns operations to a third party, we will investigate the suitability of the contractor or joint user and enter into a contract to ensure the appropriate management of personal information. Specific investigation protocols and contract contents are detailed in the “Singularity High School Personal Information Protection Regulations.”

Updating and maintaining accuracy of information

In order to keep the personal information in our possession accurate and up-to-date, we carry out regular checks and updates. We will respond promptly to requests for correction(s) from the “Information Subject” and strive to maintain its accuracy.

Responding to international trends

Our School will strive to stay up-to-date with international trends in regards to the protection of personal information, review its policies and regulations as necessary, and take appropriate measures.

Restrictions on collection, use, and disclosure

Our School will not collect, use, nor disclose personal information, that pertains to the following:

  • matters related to ideas, beliefs, and religion.
  • civil liberties, ethnicity, family origin, registered domicile (excluding information related to the individual’s prefecture of residence), criminal record, and other information that may result in social discrimination.
  • matters related to workers’ rights to organize, collective bargaining, and other collective actions.
  • matters related to participation in collective demonstrations, the exercise of the right to petition, and the exercise of other political rights.

In accordance with the above policies, our school will strive to appropriately protect and manage personal information.
